Warrior Kids

Our Warrior Kids Program allows kids to do what they do best: Laugh, play, grow and find joy and wonder in life. For kids with cancer or who have parents or other family members with cancer, it can be challenging to just be a kid. Warrior Kids provides resources and opportunities so these kids who are facing cancer in their life to use sport as a way to find that joy and just be a kid.

Goals

1. Promote multisport within the Warrior Kids Program to provide a community of support, inspiration, and fun for all kids, especially those facing cancer in their life either directly or who have a parent or family member facing cancer.

2. Provide a fun and supportive environment for all children to be motivated to enjoy an active lifestyle and receive the health benefits of exercise and increase awareness among youth on the difference they can make in the life of another child.

3. Support youth in their multisport events and training in a safe, supportive and fun atmosphere.

Warrior Kids Multisport Team at the Mini Cow BOOathlon!

This year Team Inspiration had the joy of participating in the MiniCow Tri Club’s “Booathlon,” a Halloween themed Duathlon for kids! Warrior Kids Ty, Jake, Jordyn, Katie, and Kylie sported their Team Inspiration shirts during this FUN event! Post-race, kids were invited to sign the BE-INSPIRED flag and a crowd of kids formed, all waiting to sign their name on the flag!

Cancer Warriors Jasmine and Brianna:

One of our cancer warriors, Omar, is the father of four beautiful children. His two oldest daughters, Jasmine and Brianna love to run. They wanted to be on the Frederick Striders track team, but the financial burden that often accompanies cancer treatment made it impossible for Omar to provide the fees for registration and uniforms. Team Inspiration was thrilled to be able to help in that way and be a part of the journey! On April 29, members from Team Inspiration ran the Iron Girl Half Marathon in the morning and then took their finishers medals to Jasmine and Brianna’s track meet that afternoon. It was a joyful day for the all the cancer warrior girls!

Cancer Warrior: Anya

On August 19, 2012 Team Inspiration met 6 year old Anya Zvorsky at the Athleta Iron Girl Coumbia Triathlon. She was there with her friend, BethAnn Telford, both of whom are battling brain cancer.

Anya and BethAnn immediately touched our hearts and became a big part of Team Inspiration. Anya joined us at the 24 Hours of Booty ride the following weekend to support the Livestrong foundation. She rode her very first Booty Loop with Team Inspiration’s founder, Roseann. This is just the beginning of Anya’s very active role in the triathlon and running community! Anya will be doing her very first 5K on November 4th at the Race for Hope to benefit the National Brain Tumor Society. Learn more about Team Anya here. Team Inspiration will be with her for that big event and then it will be time to prepare for next year’s KIDZ triathlon in Columbia.
