Samery Moras is a 3rd Dan Black Belt Taekwondo competitor. She is currently ranked 4th in the USA and 96th in the World in the Senior Female -46kg Black Belt division. In 2013, she competed and earned a spot on the 2013 US Collegiate National Team. Currently a full time student at the University of Utah, she also teaches Taekwondo part-time, and trains as a full-time professional athlete. Her life goal is to become the absolute best that she can be, and to earn a gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. Throughout most of her childhood, Samery rebelled from the sport of Taekwondo. She hated it. At 14, she realized she hated it was because she feared it. After all, who doesn’t think going into a ring where you’re allowed to kick each other at full power doesn’t seem a little scary? She made the decision not to let that fear control her. Samery uses everything she has learned so far to teach other student of all ages and levels. They are her true inspiration.

“It’s about inspiring kids to do things they didn’t think they could do, and seeing them feel proud of themselves and moving on to accomplishing bigger and better things. For me, it’s about the journey. About the experiences (both good and bad), the people you meet, and the person you become.
